LiHAS adds 800EUR. I don't really care for a 'stable' VServer patch as patches come out fast to whatever kernel is current like it is atm. This is one reason why we use VServer. We often need way more recent kernels than provided by the distributions (mostly debian here), mainly for performance and sometimes for driver issues. This is especially true as we run KVM on some hosts at the same time and there the benefits of higher kernel versions are more obvious. The highest release we have in use atm is 2.6.38. So if asked for a kernel version I opt for the most recent longer term kernel available and hope for mostly current VServer patches for the most recent linux kernel at all. 3.0 will probably not be anything long term stable, so in the current versions it would be 2.6.38 or 2.6.32 for stabilization.
