we are using dual core opterons so it would have 4 cores to work with, but the
ntpd thing is not nice... i rely on ntpd heavily plus one of the servers is
also a pool member. i messed with tickless here in my office a bit, and my
server is a dual p3 and tickless is working flawlessly on it, has increased
efficiency and lowered cpu temps noticably... however on my intel q6600 quad
core, tickless makes the machine fall apart with severely decreased
performance and severe pausing! so i wonder how well it works yet with 64bit.
i suspect it may be too new to attempt to use in production on any flavor of
x86_64 just yet.
