I've been able to apply patch-4.4.302-vs2.3.9.9.diff with a minor mod
to the latest 4.4 SLTS released 7 weeks ago
and cleanly compile it. It gets versioned as: 4.4.302-vs2.3.9.9-cip71-st28

Its projected earliest EOL is 2027-01
SLTS 4.19 projected EOL is 2029-01
SLTS 5.10 projected EOL is 2031-01

Looks like the SLTS versions would be a good option for us if something
happened before Herberts work is finished.

regards
Adrian
