Well, I presume you just think you have been "using" dummy0,
while instead you have been "using" lo all the time.

You can simply check this by adding an iptables rule which 
acts based on the interface (lo or dummy0).

Except for confusing assigning the IP to dummy0 and using
the dummy0 interface, no.
