Yep concur. We are moving forward with 3.16 on wheezy.

permission to write to /sys/kernel/uevent helper (ie wheezy's udev still
requires CONFIG UEVENT HELPER=y, though turned-off in debian's 3.18 config in
experimental).

My hosts also failed booting because of this bug.

I confirm that a wheezy host fails to boot with the
linux-image-vserver-3.18-beng kernel.
3.14 works fine.
