Subject: Shall I try 2.6.36.3 with vs2.3.0.36.38.4 or 2.6.37 with vs2.3.0.37-rc3 on gentoo?

Hello all,

I need to implement a "Oxford OX16PCI958 multiport card" into a
server. Drivers are implemented beginning in Kernel 2.6.36.

Since I want to use the card from a VServer I need either Kernel
2.6.36.3 with experimental patch vs2.3.0.36.38.4 or Kernel 2.6.37 with
experimental patch vs2.3.0.37-rc3. The last one is termed "rc", which
frightens me a bit :)

Further, I use gentoo as my distribution, so thanks to the wonderful
"emerge" I never found myself in a situation where I had to patch the
kernel myself...

Now I wonder about the smartest way to go - and taking the path of
least resistance ;)

I googled for "kernel patching gentoo" and read the
http://linux-vserver.org/Welcome_to_Linux-VServer.org and did all the
things one expect me to do.

After rereading my mail I realize that all I want to hear is
something like "go ahead and try, it's not that difficult" ;)

Then again, if you can point me to a good how-to or help me avoid
pitfalls that I do not yet see I'm all the more thankful.

Marcus
