Hi, I have just noticed that syslog-ng is (probably) not running in any of my guests! When I enter guest and issue "ps -e", I do not see syslog-ng running. The same with "vps" issued in host, it shows only one syslog-ng, running on host. So I entered guest, tried to start it manually, but I got this message: web / # /etc/init.d/syslog-ng start * WARNING: syslog-ng has already been started OK, so let's try to restart it (just to be sure): web / # /etc/init.d/syslog-ng stop * Stopping syslog-ng... [ ok ] web / # /etc/init.d/syslog-ng start * Starting syslog-ng... * Failed to start syslog-ng [ !! ] * ERROR: syslog-ng failed to start Of course, if there is no syslog, there are no new log messages in guest. The last entry guest's /var/log/messages (probably normal shutdown) is: Jun 3 17:55:54 web fcron[6345]: SIGTERM signal received Jun 3 17:55:54 web fcron[6345]: Exiting with code 0 Jun 3 17:55:55 web syslog-ng[6308]: Termination requested via signal, terminating; Jun 3 17:55:55 web syslog-ng[6308]: syslog-ng shutting down; version='2.1.3' Since then, nothing more guets's messages. File is rotated, but empty. Concerning host's /var/log/messages, I have found only one strange entry: vxW: [xid #0] !!! limit: ffff8101373d2078[VM,9] = 33 on exit. I do not know what it means, and I'm not sure it has something to do with syslog-ng not being started in any of my guests (host and all guests are gentoo, stable and updated)...
