Herbert,

Thanks as always for your prompt reply.

The reason I didn't go with a 2.6.22 kernel was that the kernel that came with Centos
5.2 was 2.6.18 - I didn't want to get "too far" ahead, as that has bitten me in the
past.

I did download the latest testme.sh script and got the surprise of my life:

Linux-VServer Test [V0.17] Copyright (C) 2003-2006 H.Poetzl
chcontext is working.
chbind is working.
Linux 2.6.22.19-vs2.3.0.34.1 #1 SMP Mon Mar 17 05:32:04 EDT 2008 i686

This is the latest dhozac kernel, 2.6.22.19-vs2.3.0.34.1.

So I'm going to chalk it up to global warming or solar flares. I have a recent kernel
with a recent vserver patch and a recent util-vserver, all on a current OS, so I'm not
going to worry about it. Thanks for your patience,

Eric

why those and not 2.6.22.19-vs2.2.0.7?

could you testrun with v0.17 and option -vvvv?

what compiler was used to build the kernel?

please run the chbind with strace -fF and provide
the output
