Tried that, didn't work either.  Glusterfs is a fuse 
filesystem, could that be affecting things?

On that note, I upgrade and tried both
 vmlinuz-2.6.22-3-vserver-686
 vmlinuz-2.6.25-2-vserver-686
 
with the same results, no go.

Any more thoughts?
