Hi Chuck,

I am currently experiemnting with new gentoo guests on amd64, too - what
seems to work for me is:

* creating a stub using "vserver build" with a default gentoo stage3
tarball, using initstyle plain
* emerge openrc in the guest (using chroot, not started)
* remove the tty from inittab
