Subject: guests no longer start on newer kernels

I've been trying the Bristol wireless kernels on an Atom D510
system http://www.supermicro.com/products/system/1U/5015/SYS-5015A-PHF
(which by the way has the nicest IPMP with KVM/remote media I've
ever seen) which work very well out of the box (Intel NICs).

My old vserver build script uses to do a

echo "default" > /etc/vservers/v${IP}/apps/init/mark

however, the layout is now different. I've tried this
with /usr/local/etc/vservers/v${IP}/apps/init/mark
but it doesn't seem to have any effect (the guests
stayed down on reboot).

What has changed?
