I'm using Linux-Vserver at work, and at home on a VIA C7 1Ghz processor:
- Debian / Lenny
- Vanilla Kernel 2.6.29.6 + patch vs2.3.0.36.14
- Util-Vserver 0.30.216-pre2841

It works very fine on my C7, also with hardware encryption enabled on 
guests ;)

So, if you want to build a "low cost" and "low consumption" server, it 
is probably the best choice: virtualization overhead is near from zero ;)
